Win for UTRC at prestigious Scullers Head of the River

The 53rd Scullers Head of the River race took place on Saturday 2nd December in lovely calm conditions. The race is rowed over the full boat race course in reverse – ie from Chiswick to Putney and this year almost 400 single scullers took part, with a number of international entrants.

World Sculling Champion Mahe Drysdale powered his way to victory finishing 19m55.26s, just two seconds outside the course record. Closer to home Mark Shimmin from Upper Thames Rowing Club took the Vet C (40-49) category finishing 46th overall in a time of 21:43.28.
