The club had two entries at the Head of the Charles in Boston last weekend.
Tom Carter came third overall in Men’s Under 40 Single Sculls, missing out on the gold medal by a mere five seconds. The Veteran Women’s Eight (Under 50 average age) came in a creditable fourth place as well, finishing behind several ex-international athletes in strong crews from around the world. They were in a tight race for the lead coming into the final corner but came off second best in a clash, leaving them just six seconds off the gold.
Club member John Ewans did manage to get his hands on a gold, though, winning Club Coxed Fours (Under 60) as part of an American crew. Even though it is not a UTRC win, we take credit for any of our members making the club look good!
Next up are our own Autumn Head next Sunday, and the Fours Head and Veterans Fours Head the following weekend.
