THAMES LAUNCH SUMMER ROWING CAMPS
Upper Thames Rowing Club launched its annual
programme of kids rowing courses last weekend.
The courses have proved very popular over
the last few years, and provide a great opportunity
for children to try out rowing in a safe and friendly
environment. This year the camps will be organised by
Ian Ringer and Kara Wirt, both experienced athletes
who have rowed for Upper Thames at the highest domestic
level. Ian will be racing at Henley Royal Regatta this
year and Kara's J15s won gold at the National Schools
Regatta last Sunday.
There will be three camps in consecutive
weeks running from Monday morning until Friday afternoon
(10am until 4pm) in the weeks beginning Monday 25th
July, Monday 1st August and Monday 8th August.
The cost of £200 plus VAT includes
snack lunch, the use of equipment and tuition fees.
All parents have to do to register their children is
to email summerrowingcamps@gmail.com
or telephone 07791 842272 to ask any questions you have
about the courses. In the last two years spaces have
filled up fast so early booking is advised.
This year the courses will be run only
for Year 7 and above, which means that all participants
will have to be 12 years old by September 2011.
