Located on the world famous HRR course, Upper Thames is a great place to row
Upper Thames welcomes new members. We are a friendly club in a world class location, dedicated to providing members with top class boats, great training facilities and, most importantly, enjoyment for all.
Our Senior Squad aspires to compete at the top domestic level but we also cater for those who want to row at a less intensive Club level or in our Veteran crews, or indeed those who simply want to enjoy some casual rowing on a fabulous stretch of water; one of our fastest growing sections is the over-65s, which boat twice a week and enjoy a friendly social atmosphere.
The Senior Squad has become one of the best in the country in recent years, with multiple wins at HRR, HWR and other regattas and Heads, and our Vets are also highly successful.
We run a small junior squad with dedicated coaching, with the aim of introducing kids to the sport and providing enjoyment of the river and rowing. We believe rowing at junior level should encourage watermanship and an appreciation of sculling, and ensure that our juniors are not pushed too hard beyond their comfort zone. Our goal is to produce juniors who can progress to university or club rowing with the necessary skills to succeed at that level. Numbers are limited to ensure the best coach : athlete ratio.
Rowing at Upper Thames is all about good equipment, good facilities and good coaching and, most importantly, making sure all members enjoy the sport as much as possible.
